The Music Geek Monthly Stereo Picks
Music Geek Monthly is Cardiff’s collective of the musically obsessed so they’re bound to know a good tune when they hear one!
This is what’s on the Music Geek’s stereo this month…
This month’s top 10 are:
Lower Dens– Brains
Fabulous track from the Baltimore band’s 2nd album. My favourite album at the moment.
Beach House – Myth.
The stand out track for me from Beach house’s triumphant dream pop return.
DZ Deathrays – No Sleep.
Loud, brilliant, fuzzy and urgent track from the Australian duo’s new album.
The Magnetic North – Bay of Skaill.
The surprise hit at the most recent Music geek event. Majestic and haunting folk celebrating the Orkney Islands.
The Tallest Man on Earth – Criminals.
Beautiful song from the Swedish singer songwriter’s 3rd album.
Exitmusic – The Modern Age.
Taken from the dream popish Brooklyn band’s debut album.
Quakers – Fitta Happier.
Catchy hip hop from a band with 35 members and from an album with 41 tracks. Great song.
Chromatics – Tick of the Clock.
For any fans of the film ‘Drive’ starring Ryan Gosling. You may recognise this!
Three Trapped tigers – 1.
Loud, in your face stuff from a brilliant noise/maths rock band.
Kate Wax – Dancing on your Scalp.
This track keeps nagging me to come back and listen again. I absolutely love it now! Avant garde Swiss electropop.
Hope you like the tracks too!
Andrew

What is Music Geek Monthly?
It is a monthly music review night held at Chapter Arts Centre. Each month we review and chose a new release album and a classic album and discuss it the following month. Much like a book club! If you fancy coming or want to know more…..check out:
