Worldwide Wonders: Fat City

By June 1, 2017Blog

Fat City finished their 6 year residency last year after 6 years of funk-filled fabness. From the early days of Gwdihw they brought some of the most innovative, eclectic, exciting live afrobeat, funk, soul & hip hop, picked from across the UK & worldwide.

So they know a little thing or two about picking global goodness – and we’ve asked them to choose this month’s edition of worldwide wonders – our monthly look at amazing venues across the globe. See them back at the ‘hw on sat 17th, with a live return of Superchango, but before that, enjoy their picks below!

We’ve always loved outdoor music – nothing complements beats that sunshine, and Theatre De La Mer in Sete, France is simply glorious. Incredible open-air venue with views out across the Mediterranean Sea, and an awesome sound to boot

On the flip side, there’s nothing wrong with going underground, and there’s something really special about stumbling on hidden treasures under the streets. In Krakow we went into Harris Piano Jazz for a drink in their atmospheric cellar bar and lo and behold found an amazing jazz festival was on!

For something a little grander Zitadelle Berlin (above) was pretty special. A medieval castle on the outskirts of Berlin which puts on some special gigs during the summer months. Breathtaking views and an incredible mix of huge acts & one-off, captivating concerts!

Fat City & Superchango return to Gwdihw on Sat 17th June!
